It's separation of concerns. Application developers have a lot of business logics to worry about and take care of; you ask them to take care of parellel processing at application level as well?

Business programming is not free lunch even under the current circumstance; we deal a lot of ever changing business rules and ever changing user requirements, which are the most time comsuming issues in business programming.
