Our company is working with a reseller (system integrator) in mexico to sell a wireless device. We don't have much experience in international trading, specially with Latin american. the payment is one of critical risk for the transaction since it is the first time we deal with this reseller. The reseller sell our product to local telco operator.
What is the common way for us to collect the payment. I know the answer is "depends", but is there anyone here has done this kind import/export deal? what is the "best practice" or "common practice"? My research eventually comes to the Letter of Credit(L/C), however, what is the common payment term for this kind of business (pay in advance? net 30? net 60? )
Your advice will be greatly appreciated.
