I recently got my driving license in Beijing. you first need to have a foreign driving license of course. If you only have it for one year, you need both the theory test and driving test. otherwise, only the theory test.
For the theort test, you don't have to participate any course, but use the book to study your self. They have a pool around 600 questions with the right answer.The final tests use 100 out of it. You need to have at least 90 correct.
You get your driving license the same day as you do the test. It costs only 10 yuan in total.
To be able to participate the test, you need present your passport, drving license and the translation.
I get it in Haidian district of Beijing. I don't know the situation of other places.
