Expected Contributions :
The product support team at GCR needs a proofreader/application/localization specialist to proofread and test different software products to better serve the local customer needs and to get better acceptance of our products to Chinese-speaking customers across the region. In addition to overall proofreading/testing activities, the specialist will also focus on customer advocacy, helping to do customer demonstrations and other sales support activities when necessary. The specialist will also contribute to the general knowledge transfer of the localized software to the service team and corporate product development team.
Contributions will include:
•Reporting to Product marketing manager—WPE and participating in the local workflow feature designs.
•Validating technical content and test software and report on localization problems relating to Greater China customers expectations.
•Representing the customer's perspective.
•Helping with the design of new features and applications for Chinese market and liaising with corporate
•Defining, testing and qualifying workflows, system configurations and local software.
•Liaising with technical writers, providing technical assistance in order to achieve readable and easy to use documentation.
•Approving connectivity to devices within the development process (Alpha, Beta, Early Production).
•Create, execute and maintain test cases to validate requirements, or to isolate and document problems.
•Demos (tradeshows, sales and marketing) when necessary.
•Create, build and maintain a regional style guide and glossary.
•Provide linguistic and non-linguistic feedback to Localization Project Manager.
•Liaise between translator (outsourced vendor) and Localization Project Manager.
Education :
•Post secondary education in Computer Science, Printing Technology or a related discipline is desirable. A combination of equivalent education and/or experience is acceptable.
•Certified Translator / Proofreader Simple and Traditional Chinese.
Experience :
-At least two years of industry experience in some or all of the following areas:
•Technical experience and knowledge in both English and Simple & Traditional Chinese (Speak, Write, Read – Fluent in all).
•Solid experience with FrameMaker, RoboHelp, Flash, and Illustrator.
•In-depth experiences with Windows 95, Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Mac Operating Systems.
•Knowledge of color electronic prepress systems and workflows.
•Application expertise in desktop publishing applications.
