It was kind of sad no one is responding to the last one. I am under the impression that we have IT dudes and money market/investment banker guys in this circle. any of us are in 4PL line of business here? No BS, this is for real:
ocean shipping business have been speculative somewhat in past 200 years. but recent China manufacturing activities changed that. Used to be every 8-12 years there was a cycle, most of the time there was more tonnages available than demand, so shippers were alwasy in better positions until the cycles came and steamship lines climbed to the top of the world...for a year or two and then sink to the buttom again.
in past 2-3 years, demand for tonnages has been higher and higher, as a result, the freight rate goes up and up following the ship hiring rate increase, it is to the point china originated cargo flow caused west coast port conjection which never happened before...
i am not talking about becoming a freight forwarder now (whcih is what people call 3PL) but to move into 4PL. for those who do know, what is the status at regions in Jiangsu
Suzhou manufacturing (KunShan) and XinGang manufacturing, as well as Shenzhen manufacturing regions...any 4PL active there?
Also for companies like motorola and other international conglomorates, they must have logistics management working for them. from what i heard, six sigma black belt were being trained in china by big amrican firms in china for their internal needs, but the guys disappeared on them right after the cert issued. so where are these guys?!
i am telling you, there a great market in china to chase after the international business not local chinese enterprises, and this is what i intend to do soon as my come back business. hope i can find some partners to work with me together. we can talk in more details
