COMPANY
The Company is a semiconductor maker who provides standard integrated circuits (ICs) and custom-designed application-specific ICs (ASICs), focusing on broadband and wireless communications, consumer electronics, and data networking markets. The Company was a pioneer of system-on-a-chip (SOC) devices, which combine elements of an electronic system -- especially a microprocessor, memory, and logic -- onto a single chip.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Senior Director, Marketing & Business Development reports to a U.S. based executive responsible for the ZSP lines.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Director, Marketing & Business Development will be responsible for managing and business development of all ZSP products (licensing and chip sales). He/she is tasked to develop the strategic road map for ZSP product portfolio in Asia, including China, Taiwan, Korea and possibly also Japan. Whilst he/she is expected to service major accounts, the Senior Director will, concurrently, explore other channels such as working with global component distributors or regional/local distributors in designated Asian countries.

The major accountabilities for the position will include:

To develop and implement the business plan to achieve sales and profit targets for the Asia Pacific region.
To identify appropriate sales opportunities, drive key customer relationships and lead commercial negotiations where applicable.
Effectively leverage the resources to land customer contracts. Work with head office in coordinating roll out of new products in the region.
To keep abreast of current trends, economic conditions and growth opportunities in the semiconductor industry as well as the advanced electronics systems space. Closely monitor competitors’ activities and develop counter-strategy to preserve and strengthen the market position of the Company.
To train and develop a highly skilled and motivated local team, improve their bandwidth, and to imbue the work force with a strong and healthy culture in order to increase effectiveness and drive for desired performance.
Utilize corporate support and resources to drive the business in the Asia Pacific region. Serve as a bridge between the Asia Pacific operations and the corporate headquarters to maintain and balance a harmonious working relationship.
Undertake ad hoc assignments as and required by senior management.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
The successful candidate will have an intimate firsthand knowledge of Chinese family and business cultures, with at least 15 years of sales experience with another multinational semiconductor or component manufacturer. Apart from possessing sales prowess and maturity in handling major accounts, the individual should have prior experience in operating effectively in a multi-cultural, multi-location, matrix organization.

The person should be an effective business and team builder, who can provide the leadership and communicate long- and short-term goals throughout the organization. He/she needs to be not only strategic in setting goals but also hands-on in implementing and achieving business plans and objectives.

The person should be a college graduate with a major either in electronics engineering or computer engineering. An advanced degree in business administration will be an advantage but not a prerequisite. Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory, as is proficiency in Mandarin Chinese. Knowledge of a second Chinese dialect, such as Hokkien which is commonly spoken in Taiwan, is a plus.

The successful candidate should have the initiative to be able to operate independently with minimal supervision. He/she should be motivated and ambitious, and be prepared to spend considerable time on the road, calling on major clients and distributors in different cities in the Far East, rather than strategizing out of his office. Apart from the hands-on selling capabilities, the person should have the capacity for organization and administration, as well as the potential career progression.

Finally, in so far as the person will be vested with certain discretion, the finalist must have professional integrity and ethics which are beyond reproach.
